Wow!! I'll say it again - Wow!!

monopoly_collageGraham and the gang of divers who set up and ran the 1st. Annual Spring U/W Monopoly Charity Marathon really out did themselves. Would you believe that they raised over $10,000 in just 48 hours!! $10,000.

The event was a real blast. If you dropped in through the weekend you know just how exciting it was to watch the players and everyone else was having a great time socializing, checking out the great prizes, helping the players change over and chatting with the media people. There were a lot of media people out over the weekend including the TV crews from CITY, CTV, CBC and Global; the news people from the Star and the Liberal and several radio stations like The Edge (CFNY) also carried news flashes.

It was pretty neat to see these folks watching the U/W Monopoly players through the underwater viewers we had available (see photos). Next time we'll have our U/W video camera in place and that'll make it even more exciting. Representatives from the charities (Child Find, Starlight Foundation and Project Aware) were also present and they were equally impressed with all the activity. I'm sure they are even more impressed with the final results! All the credit for such a great event goes to Graham Hill who came up with the entire idea and followed through with the organization, the fund raising and the execution of the actual event. Sure he had lots of help and support but I want to make it clear that this event would not have happened at all nor have been so successful if it were not for Graham. I do want to thank the dozens of divers, donors, pledges and others who helped as well. Below is a list of the largest pledge collectors and the major prize donors. They deserve your recognition too. When you have a chance, be sure to thank them personally. Now, check out the photos and start planning for the next great charity event at Scuba 2000.
